1. Adam Gilchrist holds the record for playing the most number of Tests straight after debut.

He played 96 Test matches between 5th November 1999 and 24th January 2008 without dropping out from any of them.

2. Ishant Sharma is responsible for all the three highest scores made by a batsman against India in the 21 st century.

Alistair Cook – 294 Runs, Edgbaston 2011; Michael Clarke – 329 Runs, Sydney 2012; Brendon McCullum – 302 Runs, Wellington 2014. They were all dropped by Ishant Sharma early on in their innings.


3. Chris Martin and B.S Chandrasekhar have taken more Test wickets in their career than the test runs they scored.

In 71 Tests, Martin has scored 123 runs, while he has 233 wickets to his credit, on the other hand Chandrasekhar has 167 runs to his name along with 242 wickets.

4.In a World Cup Match, chasing 335, Sunil Gavaskar scored an unbeaten 36 off 174 balls.

In the Prudential World Cup of 1975, in the match between India and England, England set the target of 335 runs in 60 overs. Sunil Gavaskar batted throughout the innings and scored only 36 runs  of 174 balls. India managed to score only 132 runs in 60 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

5. Chris Gayle is the first batsman to hit a six off the first ball of a Test match.

In the 137 years of Test cricket no cricketer has ever hit a six off the first ball of a Test match. Then Chris Gayle achieved this feat against Bangladesh in 2012 off debutante Sohag Gazi.

6.Vinod Kambli's Test match average is better than his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar.

Vinod Kambli played only 17 Test matches which included two back to back double tons. Kambli’s Test average is 54.20 while his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar averages 53.78 after 200 Tests.

7.First team to be dismissed twice in a single day.

Indian cricket team was the first cricket team to be dismissed twice in a single day of a test match in 1952 against England (58 in the 1st Innings & 82 in the 2nd innings). The only other team to hold this record is Zimbabwe, who were dismissed twice in a single day not once, but twice (2005 and 2011), both of them against New Zealand.

8.Sachin Tendulkar played for Pakistan!

Sachin Tendulkar once happened to play for Pakistan before he started playing for India!!! Yes, it is true. This incident took place during a practice match between the rival nations India and Pakistan at the Brabourne Stadium in 1987. Tendulkar came onto the field as a substitute fielder for Pakistan.

9.The only cricketer to play for India and England both.

The only cricketer to have played for both England and India is The Nawab Of Pataudi (Senior), aka, Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the grandfather of Indian actor, Saif Ali Khan.

10. Indian Skipper Dhoni.

The former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has never scored an ODI century outside Asia.
